What Happened to Cass McBride

Truly a page turner! This is told in many voices, flipping back and forth in time as each person tells a little of the tale. The basic outline is that Cass McBride, beautiful, talented, and popular on the the OUTside, is kidnapped by a boy who initially blames her for his brother David's suicide. He thinks that Cass refusing to go out with David caused him to hang himself. Cass's internment underground and her frightening chats with her kidnapper make this a book long remembered. The author, Gail Giles, writes that being snowbound in Alaska gave her the idea to write about an experience being buried underground.
I would give this book five big stars...the only drawback for younger readers would be the tension and occasional expletive.
